Papercraft Project: Time's Up

haha "watch" out >;3c its "time" for the final papercraft project!!

So since we left off last time we were left with a silly blocky-lookin first prototype

ew

But fear not cos in that time I'd made another prototype!

shrek edition

with this advanced prototype i got the basics of the improved design on the table. From my group critique they said instead of a solid band, i should layer pieces of paper to make a wrist strap, and have a lil piece of plastic for the watch face

just like shrek

so from here there was only one way to go but pink ;3c

ta-dah

can now be worn lmao

even got the plastic!

weeee

so i followed through with the layered band idea, and made minor alterations. Realizing that my band didnt need to be so long as it was in the green stage, i was able to shorten the band and make the template slightly bigger. I even got the plastic for the face! But now im left with like 40in of plastic film lmaooo so i guess i could make more watches :^/

made the lil hands outta paper, and cut a lil hole out of the face to show the digital time :3 and as a bonus touch, added "holes" in the strap with a layer of black paper lol i gotta say it doesnt look too bad

especially from that first template lmao

oof

from there i went the "shrek" route and layer that wristband so i no longer needed that funky circle piece, but instead added a freakier circle piece for the concave watch face, and some other assorted pieces i thought i would need like a ring for final face detail

but from building that second prototype, i realized that my model didnt need to be so big so i resized it and made final adjustments, and still ended up with pieces that i didnt even need!!

we can rebuild it. we have the technology

and i guess from there we have two cute lil renders :3

theyre renders of the first prototype with the recessed face with glass because i never had made a second 3d build for my green prototype, i just edited my original prototype template and went from there.... sorry Bryan :^/

All in all im actually proud of how my cute lil watch turned out in the end! it was worth the time and effort and i ended up really liking it and learning new ways how to do stuff and fixing the prototype and enhancing my original blocky design. I wouldnt be against doing another papercraft in the future, only "time" will tell ;3c

k no more time jokes lol
