Remix Culture

Remix culture is the process of creating a new derivative work from combining existing materials. A popular example of this and a personal favourite of mine is the album Mouth Moods created by Neil Cicierega. Cicierega uses samples from other songs and media to create an new remixed song, which he's done for two albums before Mouth Moods, but that one just happens to be my favourite. Using Tim Allen grunting noises and samples from songs by Disturbed, Mungo Jerry, and Phil Collins to name a few, he creates an entirely new experience that is something that is compelling and super enjoyable. Although not with sound and music samples, this is what we were tasked to do: create 10 3D pieces of "remix culture" from existing models I find from TinkerCad, so that is what I set out to do.

First we have the "uni-copter". I wanted to create something absurd that had the possibility to exist, but would be very cumbersome to use, possibly only being remotely useful only in the air.

The second model is the water-cooler powered tugboat. Fill it with water and watch it go. I created this because the tugboat only works on water, is now dependant on water even further.

Next up is the port-a-potty: the wrong way to have a portable toilet. I took the concept of portable toilet and put it on wheels to make it as portable as possible.

Up next is the self driving car. The car itself has no wheels so it can't move, but it has legs and rides a skateboard, so it becomes absurd as to why you would want to continue driving the car when you could just walk or ride a skateboard yourself

5th model in is my obligatory creature model. Tinkercad named him Esboo Vilhelmo. He is a 2nd Grader and he was walking to school in his favourite hat and wellies trying to find an adventure

Here we have the washing machine luggage. I wanted to portray 'killing two birds with one stone": washing your clothes in the same place where you pack them for your flight.

Here we have the death tub. Go for an eternal soak. I wanted to create something unsettling but also begs the question: What is up with this tub????

Here we have the 6pk of fish. This represents the inconvenient truth that our plastic waste is effecting the ocean life

Up next we have the Nuclear Plant. This represents how in the end, after all human advancement, that mother nature ends up reclaiming everything back.

Last but not least we have the remote controlled TV. Use the remote to control the mannequin and let him do all the work of changing the channels. It makes more sense to just have the remote to control the tv but I wanted to create something that makes it even more convoluted.
